Objective: The objective of the Anti-Ragging Policy at Royal Heritage College of Education is to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students. The college is committed to ensuring that no student is subjected to ragging or any other form of harassment. The policy aims to prevent ragging and to ensure that any incidents of ragging are dealt with promptly and effectively.

Definition of Ragging:

Ragging refers to any act of physical, mental, or emotional harassment involving a new student by senior students, where the intent is to intimidate, threaten, or cause harm to the individual. It includes but is not limited to:

Verbal abuse: Use of offensive language, derogatory comments, or threats.

Physical abuse: Any form of physical harm or force.

Psychological harassment: Humiliation, bullying, or coercion to participate in activities that cause discomfort.

Measures to Prevent Ragging:
1. Awareness Programs:

The college will conduct awareness programs for both freshers and senior students at the beginning of each academic session to educate them about the harmful effects of ragging.

2. Anti-Ragging Committees:

The college has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad to monitor and take action against any reported incidents of ragging. These committees are responsible for:

Investigating complaints related to ragging.

Taking appropriate disciplinary action.

Providing counseling and support to the victims of ragging.

3. Display of Anti-Ragging Posters and Helplines:

Posters and notices will be prominently displayed across the campus to remind students of the Zero-Tolerance Policy toward ragging. Helplines for anonymous complaints will be made available.


4. Vigilance by Faculty and Staff:

All faculty and staff members will be instructed to remain vigilant and report any signs of ragging to the authorities immediately.

Punishments for Ragging:

Any student found guilty of engaging in ragging, either as a participant or as an instigator, will face severe disciplinary actions. These may include:

• Suspension for a specified period.
• Rustication or transfer to another institution.
• Imposition of fines.
• Cancellation of admission.

Additionally, legal action may be taken as per the provisions under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging.
